SW Chicago Community Resource Fair

On June 15, 2013 LOS with the Illinois Welcoming Center organized a resource fair. Community residents came out to enjoy a fun filled day with music, dance, and free health screenings.

The vision of the Community Resource Fair and Welcoming Day is to provide services in partnership with state agencies, local community organizations, and educational entities that support self-sufficiency.

A special thank you to the West Lawn Public Library, the 13th Ward Alderman, IDHS, New Americans, Chicago Area Project, and the Community residents who braved the wet weather and enjoyed the day.

Screenings were conducted at LOS

Celebrating Peace, Love, and Harmony

The World Harmony Run is a global torch relay, seeking to strengthen international friendship and understanding. As a symbol of harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand traveling through over 100 nations around the globe.

Together with Hurley Elementary students, teachers, parents, and community residents, the Latino Oragnization of the Southwest with the 8th District Commander, State Senator Martin Sandoval and other distiguished guests celebrated PEACE, LOVE, & HARMONY at the southwest neighborhood school of Hurley, located on 3849 W. 69th Place, Chicago, IL.

Planted on June 1, 2012, the tree symbolizes peace for our community.

Students gathered to share poems, songs, and their own symbolism of peace.

Share a moment of peace.
